Practical observations

Living sustainably doesn't have to be expensive.

In fact, as I found out, it saves in the long run.

Investment with as minimal input as possible, with the most desired outcome.

Looking for solutions, that serve well in the long run. Change usually doesn't happen overnight. It takes roughly 60 days of conscious, daily action to change habits. If something does not work immediately, don't give up.

Change is coming.

Inspired by nature

Clouds, for instance, are changing constantly. One moment, they have a certain shape. And if we look away for a few seconds, and turn our heads, they make different figures.

I believe, this is how we humans operate as well. If we want to adapt to our surroundings, we too have to change.

Quality, protected

When it rains in Ireland, it usually pours down quite heavily. One day, I was out for a long stroll after work, and it started raining about half-way from home. When arriving at the house, the bag was soaked - plus everything in it!

Of course there are covers for bags one can buy. As everything nowadays. But I try to not spend money, if I can solve it more economically myself, especially in the financial climate we find ourselves in these days.

I remember my last broken umbrella in the recycle box to be thrown out. The fabric on it was still fine - no holes etc. So I detached the broken frame, and came up with a solution, how to fit this around the bag. It somehow had to be attached quickly, and also it should be water resistant, so I could do this even while walking in wet weather.

Somewhere in my drawers I had velcro lying around. I cut some pieces, from both sides, and determined the place on the fabric. First I only used the sticky solution, but this turned out to be not strong enough, because it easily detaches when in use. So I hand-sewed it on.

It's quick and easy handling, and light in weight to carry at the bottom of the bag, for emergency use.

The Art of Copying (without AI)

A colleague in an office expressed her discomfort, after learning that her favorite painting is ordered to be traveling back to the previous office, hence she will miss her piece that helped her escape when things got tough in the office. I investigated the artwork and spontaneously offered to replace it by copying it into a slightly smaller version.
